Our Mission Statement
OUR VISION
Worship
1. Provide the opportunity for those who worship at Immanuel to encounter the living God.
A. Create worship services that are well planned and thematically and biblically sound through the use of lay-led worship planning teams.
B. Create a worship space that is flexible, adaptable, and provides a gathering space for all that worship now and in the future, bringing the worship
experience "among the people'.
Learning For Life
1. Provide quality Christian education for the children of Immanuel Lutheran- infants through high school.
A. Implement a new approach to Sunday School using the large group/ small group model.
B. Enhance the education and leaning for pre-Sunday School age- infants through age 3
2. Provide quality Christian education for the adults of Immanuel Lutheran.
A. Provide exciting opportunities that will attract Immanuel’s adults into and on-going Learning for Life program that will invite and encourage participation.
B. Create facilities that accommodate adult learning sessions.
C. Provide creative learning opportunities for post-high school young adults.
3. Strengthen and support Immanuel families in living and teaching Biblical values.
A. Assist parents to grow in their faith and equip them to deal with difficult parenting issues.
B. Support couples as they seek God at the center of their marriage.
C. Provide for and promote inter-generational activities to create community and provide opportunities to share them.
Creating a Welcoming Congregation
1. Build Community among Immanuel members.
A. Equip members with welcoming/outreaching attitudes and behaviors.
B. Bring inactive members to an active relationship with Christ and the faith community.
C. Improve church facilities to welcome and accommodate all while creating opportunities for fellowship.
2. Incorporate new members into the life of the Immanuel Family.
A. Clarify expectations of new member sponsors.
B. Assist new members in discovering their servant profile (passion, spiritual gifts and personal style).
Reaching Out to the Community
1. Create and cultivate partnerships with the community of Forest City that fulfills the needs of its residents.
A. Facilitate and support providers of socio-economic services for the community of Forest City.
B. Actively support the mission of the Hanson Family Life Center.
C. Actively support the mission of Waldorf College.
2. Create and cultivate partnerships with the regional community that fulfills the needs of its residents.
A. Explore relationships with neighboring ELCA congregations.
B. Strengthen the relationship of ILC with the Western Iowa Synod.
C. Create strong, open and supportive relationships with area prison ministries.
3. Create and cultivate human connections with the global community.
A. Actively evaluate and seek appropriate global missions for Immanuel Lutheran Church.
B. Utilize mission trips to bring Immanuel Lutheran Church members in direct contact with their global mission partners.
